The Judicial System
Under order of the courts, the DUI/DWI offender is presented with the direct results of his/her choice to drink and drive. At the time of sentencing, the offender is assigned to a local program. He/she is expected to attend on that date and will only be allowed to reschedule in case of an emergency.
As they hear accounts of those affected, the offenders are confronted with the possible consequences of their actions. At the conclusion of the presentation, trained counselors allow discussion and follow-up with the offenders. Following the panel session, the courts are sent a report that indicates who did or did not attend the program. It will then be up to the courts to take action against those who did not comply.
Reaching Our Youth
Not only reform, but prevention is at the heart of this program. Panels are presented in high schools, colleges and universities. The influence of this program can have on young people, at a time in their lives when they are still impressionable, can have a significant effect on the incidence of drunk driving, thereby saving lives.
