School Programs
The Victims’ Impact Panel of Oklahoma, Inc., is proud to boast that it has been presenting programs in Oklahoma schools since 1989. Many schools have the program every year for their students.
Most schools have all-school assemblies and some choose certain grades to participate. A typical program is presented for 8th-12th graders in an assembly setting. We have presented programs to groups as small as 30 and as large as 2,000.
The program lasts approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes and includes a moderator, two to three speakers, a short video, and time for the students to come and thank the speakers. The moderator and speakers will be individuals from the local area, which makes the presentation more personal.
We use a 7-foot-by-10-foot screen to show our video which is played on a DVD player and projected from a video projector. For schools that do not have this equipment, we bring our own.
The total cost of the program is $350. This helps us to cover our expenses for presenting the program. Most schools use their drug education allowance to pay, but some approach their local civic organizations for assistance.
Many schools schedule programs during Red Ribbon Week in October or during the weeks of prom and graduation. These are the first dates to fill up. We encourage schools to schedule a program as soon as possible so that they can get their first choice. We, of course, present programs all through the school year and will be happy to work with your schedule.
If your school has never had a Victims’ Impact Panel, we would be happy to provide a list of schools in your area for you to contact and get an opinion of the program.
